"Chemicals have replaced bacteria and viruses as the main threat to health. The diseases we are beginning to see as the major causes of death in the latter part of (the 1900's) and into the 21st century are diseases of chemical origin.”
Dr. Dick Irwin, Toxicologist, Texas A&M University www.lesstoxicguide.ca/index.asp

Preventable Cancer Deaths:
"For much of its history, the cancer war has been fighting the wrong battles, with the wrong weapons, against the wrong enemies. The Secret History of the War on Cancer by Dr. Devra Davis shows, decade by decade, how the campaign has targeted the disease and left off the table the things that cause it—tobacco, alcohol, the workplace, and other environmental hazards. Conceived in explicitly military terms, the effort has focused on defeating an enemy by detecting, treating, and curing disease. Overlooked and suppressed was any consideration of how the world in which we live and work affects whether we get cancer. The result is appalling: over 10 million preventable cancer deaths over the past thirty years. This has been no accident."

'Dying to live here - chemicals, UV a deadly mixture' - The London Free Press - May 2007
"Pollution, said London researcher Lina Dagnino who studies the formation of skin cancers, contains chemicals with "oxidative agents," which are known to "co-operate with UV to make things worse and cause cancer".
In May of 2007, The London Free Press published a one-week series exploring the links between high rates of death, disease and South Western Ontario's environment. In the article 'Are we so arrogant', "High blood pressure, heart and respiratory disease, cancer, birth defects - rates here leap off the Ontario charts", Free Press reporters Kate Dubinski and Chip Martin look for answers in the air you breathe, the water you drink and the ground you trod. Death rates from cancers, skin disease and birth defects are above the Ontario average in South Western Ontario.
Toxic Nation on Parliament Hill: A Report on the Pollution in Four Canadian Politicians (2007)
The participating politicians included Rona Ambrose, Minister of the Environment; Tony Clement, Minister of Health; Jack Layton, Leader of the NDP; and, John Godfrey, Liberal Environment Critic. The group was tested for a slew of toxic chemicals, including pesticides, heavy metals and chemicals used to make flame retardants and stain repellents. The results are alarming. http://environmentaldefence.ca/reports/toxicnation-parliament-hill

Stress, your brain and your health
Although a normal part of every person's life, chronic or unmanaged stress in your personal life can be detrimental to overall health. The body can gradually become sensitized to stress and you can be unaware of the dangers to the brain and body. It is possible to experience an allergic type of reaction to stress like a pollen allergy. Chronic stress can permanently change the brain, changing the way that your brain responds in the future.
Is stress, physical, chemical or emotional, the underlying cause of your health condition?
Maybe you are experiencing a combination of all three.
