Health Intention: Designing What You See to Get What You Want

You may be familiar with the saying ‘what you see is what you get’.  This phrase took on a whole new meaning for me when I did the research for my book.  I seriously have to say that I was blown away by the research that is available to document the power of a person’s intention to change their biology, DNA, health.  Visualizations can be customized using information from test results, your research and answers to the questions you ask your healthcare provider. The specific information associated with a diagnosis and a prognosis provides useful data to develop visualizations. You are a unique human being like no other person, and your DNA test results which reflect your uniqueness can be used to develop customized visualizations.

My client’s visualizations were customized using their personal health information.  The results have been amazing.

The information about your symptoms or condition and your research provides you with a basic understanding of your relevant body parts and systems and how they should normally function (e.g., anatomy, physiology, biochemistry). Every new year usually comes with thoughts of ‘what do I need to stop, start or change’ for a healthier me? The possibilities are vast. Where do you begin? Social media offers a non-stop stream of ‘must do’ suggestions to get you healthy. There are many opinions on what is best for you on social media, magazines, the news and books. DETOXIFICATION: The Benefits of Getting It Right

January is often a time of reflection and resolutions.  It is also a time when many people consider a detoxification regime in a quest to achieve the benefits that can potentially be had.  The body has natural ongoing detoxification processes that may sometimes need some help especially if your liver is burdened by air pollution, medications, alcohol or other factors.

During my journey to improved health I tried many detoxification strategies to detoxify my body burden and each had benefits. Depending on a person’s body burden and health challenges, the method of detoxification that is best may vary. After trying many methods and making small gains in improved health, I decided there had to be a way to reap greater results. My health challenges at the time were great and I needed more help. Understanding that the the skin is the body’s largest organ I started experimenting with different combinations of herbs as a bath tea to amplify and maximize my body’s detoxification processes.  The herbs, sea salt and baking soda mix have the ability to draw and bind harmful toxins. After a series of baths, one every 4 to 7 days for several months – my health and energy levels started to improve significantly. Then my body had the opportunity to focus it’s energies on repair and healing instead of constantly trying to detoxify my circulating, interfering body pollution without success.

Realizing the significant gains from the herbal bath tea detoxification methods I started recommending the same to my clients. The results have been impressive.  Clients with chronic back pain for years no longer have back pain. Other clients with health challenges noting impressive improvements in their health. One amazing story of Mary’s detoxification of her terrifying ‘fifty year’ caterpillar phobia. Mary can now touch a caterpillar with no fear where in the past the terror evoked by seeing a caterpillar on her way out the door would send her terrorized back inside. Why consider detoxification:

Is your body pollution an issue to your health? Everyone has a degree of body pollution as a result of living in a toxic world.  You can read about the toxins found in the blood and urine of our politicians who volunteered to be tested.

The cure to your health challenges could be closer than you think. Body pollution interferes with the body’s normal healthy communication and signalling processes required for healthy body function including immunosurveillance, immunoresponse and tumor suppression.

Detoxification requires a two part process to be successful: Stop adding to your body pollution and remove your existing body pollution.

Herbal bath tea detoxification:

Detoxification using my herbal bath tea method is a process that takes time.  When properly initiated, it can improve your energy levels and your health. Your body pollution did not happen overnight and you can not detoxify it with a few supplements, internal cleanses or baths.  My method will require a series of baths, from 12 to 20, one every 4 (no sooner) to 10 days.

Detoxification using a simple detoxification process of sea salt (not epsom salt), baking soda and apple cider vinegar is a good start although may not be adequate to remove all of your body pollution. Many herbs bind with heavy metals which are a significant part of environmental pollution (e.g. exhaust, industry).

Through neuromuscularbiofeedback results with clients the correct customized herbal bath recipes provided the best results. This allowed my clients bodies to focus their energies on repair and healing without the interference of circulating and body pollution.

YOUR BODY CAN HEAL ITSELF: Follow My Road Map to Get There

Sometimes I forget how ill I really was. A blessing for sure!

I am revisiting my multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS), toxicant induced loss of tolerance (TILT), environmental illness (EI), chronic fatigue (CF), multiple food allergies, irritable bowel, depression, seasonal affected disorder (SAD), stress sensitization and spasmodic dysphonia diagnoses today.  I am often reminded about how severely ill and affected I was by these conditions when I get inquires from all over the world asking for help from those still suffering.

All of the preceding diagnoses (plus more) were given to me in the past. I suffered severely for many years and I now have good health and feel good. I can eat all foods and feel save in many environments, avoiding toxic environments as everyone should.

On my journey to good health I tried many strategies, always looking for ‘the cure’.  Like many people I read every article about the latest supplement and cures and spent a lot of money on trying them.  From today’s view point it is clear to see that one cannot regain their health by merely supplementing/adding on something; one must start at the very beginning. BACK TO ‘BALANCE’: Body, Mind & Life Balancing Self-Care Strategies

If I had waited until I was 100% ‘fixed’ before sharing my holistic protocol, there would be a lot of people who would have missed out on the well-being gains they have experienced to date. My journey through multiple health and life challenges has taught me that ‘change in believing, thinking and doing’ (paradigm shifts) are necessary components to surviving and conquering what life brings you.

In my practice as a holistic wellness practitioner I share the strategies that I have found to be most effective on my well-being journey and through counselling my clients; refined through many years of trial and error. Keep your completed board beside your favourite relaxation spot at home or your office wall to help remind you often that you may need to regularly re-evaluate and implement alternate strategies to achieve your goals and maintain balance. Earlier this week my television signal displayed the above error message.  It usually happens when there is a storm approaching.  The result of the storm interference is a lost satellite signal and no channel availability.

The human body has a very complicated system of communication to and from the brain to all the body parts and systems.  There are many factors that can interfere with those communications signals resulting in compromised organ, endocrine, system and body part functions including immunosurveillance, immunoresponse, tumor suppression, healing and DNA repair. Body pollution, air pollution, processed and additive enhanced foods, toxins, excess stress hormones, endocrine disruptors in personal care, feminine protection, plastics, the environment and cleaning products; all have the potential to temporarily or permanently disrupt the communications signals that your body requires daily for optimum health and vitality.

NATURAL CURES: Protecting and Repairing the Myelin Sheath for Improved Health

WHAT IS THE MYELIN SHEATH?

The myelin sheath is the insulating material, made up of myelin, around nerve cells in the central nervous system. It is most commonly determined to be damaged due to an autoimmune response in persons diagnosed with MS. In healthy people, the immune system recognizes that myelin is a component of the body itself, and so immune cells do not produce antibodies that attack myelin. Although the inflammation caused by the autoimmune response and resulting damage to the myelin  has long been considered the root cause of MS; the exact cause is not known and there is speculation that several contributing environmental and genetic factors are involved. . When myelin is damaged, “demyelination”, the transmission of electrical signals along axons is impaired. If the sheath is severely damaged, the underlying nerve fiber can die.

WHAT HURTS YOUR MYELIN SHEATH?

Oxidative stress and damage are considered to be factors in the inflammatory and neurodegenerative processes. In adults, the myelin sheath can also be destroyed by stroke, inflammation, immune disorders, metabolic disorders, and nutritional deficiencies (such as a lack of vitamin B12), poisons and drugs (such as the antibiotic ethambutol).  Myelin sheaths do not develop normally in children with certain rare hereditary diseases, such as Tay-Sachs disease, Niemann-Pick disease, Gaucher disease, and Hurler syndrome. These children may have permanent, often extensive, neurologic problems

Although all factors that interfere with the normal production and protection of myelin have not been determined, exposure to harmful pollutants, including neurotoxins is suspected. A neurotoxin is a toxin that acts specifically on nerve cells – neurons – usually by interacting or interfering with membrane proteins and ion channels, as well as necessary communication. Common examples of neurotoxins include lead, ethanol (drinking alcholhol), manganese, glutamate, nitric oxide, botulinum toxin (e.g. Botox), tetanus toxin and tetrodoxin. Foods, personal care, household, industrial, agricultural (pesticides) and lawn and garden products contain a vast array of neurotoxins.

“One in six children now has a developmental disability, most of which are linked to the nervous system. A team from the Harvard School of Public Health has identified 201 known neurotoxic chemicals in common use which have not been regulated to protect the developing brains of children. The chemicals include lead, methylmercury, solvents including toluene and benzene, and dozens of pesticides. Over half of the 201 chemicals are classified as high volume chemicals, meaning that over one million pounds a year a produced annually.” http://www.environmentalhealth.ca/fall08brain.html

One major effect of toxic inhalants (what you breathe in) is the destruction of the myelin sheath that surrounds neurons resulting in problems in the normal transmission of impulses through neurons and cell death. Inhalants not only damage the nervous system, but other organs such as the lungs, liver, heart and kidney can be injured permanently. WHAT AREAS OF THE BRAIN ARE AFFECTED?

Long term effects of inhalants and other toxins on the nervous system vary:

  • memory loss
  • concentration problems
  • visual disturbances; blindness
  • motor problems
  • peripheral nerve damage, tingling in hands and feet

Various areas of the brain and nervous system (including the myelin sheath) can be negatively affected by toxins:

  • Cerebral cortex: damage can cause changes in personality, memory loss, hallucinations and learning problems.
  • Cerebellum: damage can cause problems in balance and movement.
  • Hippocampus: damage may result in the memory problems.
  • Visual System: damage to the peripheral nerves may cause visual disturbances.

 

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PROTECT AND REPAIR YOUR MYELIN SHEATH?

It is possible that the body can repair damaged myelin. This process is called “remyelination.” Most  traditional treatments focus on suppressing the ‘skewed’ autoimmune response. It is possible to repair nervous system damage caused by neurotoxins – the body has an amazing ability to heal.

From a holistic approach there are a number of strategies to consider:

Ewe, what’s that smell? Learn how to restore your sense of smell to normal and safe!

There was a time in the past that I would run the other direction when I picked up on a scent. It wouldn’t matter what the source, synthetic or natural.  My olfactory bulb, the part of my brain responsible for how the body assesses and responds to scents, was seriously malfunctioning.

The good news is that I have been able to restore my olfactory bulb and body’s normal way of detecting, assessing and responding to scents, even synthetic and harmful scents. You too can achieve this goal.  The first step is to believe that it is possible. A heightened sense of smell or even loss of smell can be signs of TILT and body pollution.  Before you work on desensitizing your offended olfactory bulb, follow my holistic protocol to completely detoxify your body – stop adding to your body pollution and remove your existing body pollution.

One of the most important steps in desensitizing your offended olfactory bulb is to gradually get used to natural scents.  Start by inhaling natural citrus scents (oils pressed from the skin of fruit) from an inhaler or diffuser.  An accurate sense of smell is important for a normal healthy body functions, including immune system function. When your sense of smell becomes ‘skewed’ to the extent that you are running in the other direction whenever you pick up on a scent, it is the result of a previous injury probably caused by an exposure to a toxic chemicals.  After an exposure to toxic chemicals the body and brain can lose it’s ability to tolerate even small amounts of chemicals, synthetic and natural.  This is called toxicant induced loss of tolerance (TILT).

Your resulting heightened sense of smell and offended olfactory bulb response can also be your body’s way of protecting you from re-exposure and allowing your body time to recover from the initial assault. As time goes on your body’s sense of smell should be restored to normal.  If it is not restored it is time to look for solutions that will get you there.  Why? If your body is regularly mounting hyper vigilant and skewed responses in one part of your body, there is probably additional malfunction in other parts of the body as well as compromised surveillance of situations that need attention. This can be a serious ongoing health challenge.

When you have a symptom of any kind, including being extremely offended by a scent, your body has gone through a three step process:

 
  1. Perception – your operating system (body/mind) has become aware of something different through your senses 
  2. Evaluation/interpretation – your operating system (body/mind) has made a judgment about the significance of the perceived (at times possibly invalid) awareness
  3. Response –  your operating system (body/mind) has directed your body/mind’s defense systems to take care of the real or perceived situation/threat. 

In step 2 of the process, when your body makes a judgement about the significance of the perceived awareness, your body and mind uses criteria from past experiences.  For instance, if in the past you have been exposed to an excessive amount of smelly toxins, your body and mind may evaluate all scents in the present at a 10 out of 10, in terms of threat and harm, when they should be evaluated somewhere between 0 and 10.

Is your body’s valuation for the threat of all scents a 10/10? The truth is all scents are not a 10/10 threat to you although your body and mind may think and believe so. If your body and mind does evaluate all scents at a 10/10, it could mount a skewed response based on the valuation; and send you into an allergic or sensitivity response or on the run.

Changing the valuation that your body mind gives to scents will change the way your body responds to them and eventually your sense of smell with be restored to normal and you will be safe in the presence of scents. Keep in mind that nobody should remain in a location where there are toxic or harmful scents.  Although I can walk by pefume counters now without my body going into a 10/10 valuation and threat response – I do not hang around them because I know that synthetic scents can be harmful to my health.  How do you change your body and mind’s threat evaluation from 10/10 to a normal 0-10/10 response?

Besides past experiences become part of your body and mind’s criteria for present day responses, there are many other factors that can be responsible for the criteria your body and mind use to respond.  Body pollution, memories of past trauma and stressors can also be a factors. Symptoms, including a skewed response to all scents, are just the ‘tip of the iceberg’.  To alleviate symptoms, ‘base of the iceberg‘ issues must be resolved.

A NATURAL STRATEGY TO REPROGRAM

YOUR BODY AND MIND’s VALUATION of THREATS (Real and Perceived)

Although this may sound impossible you can change your body’s valuation by continually reprogramming the value of any threat, real and perceived.  Try this the next time you smell something (start with a scent that you know will not harm you but may have offended you – eg. smell of an orange).  When you smell the orange immediate say in your mind ‘0’ (zer0), ‘0’, ‘0’.  Then if your mind goes to ‘oh my gosh’, keep saying zero, zero, zero.  Do this every time you smell something offensive and do not allow your mind to go to ‘oh my gosh’.  Over time you will have changed your body and mind’s valuation of the perceived threat. Obviously, if the scent are coming from something toxic, you are going to move away from it while repeating.

LEMONGRASS: Powerful Anti-Fungal and Anti-Cancer Activity
