DNA REPAIR FOR HEALTHY LONGEVITY: Eat Your Cruciferous Vegetables

Updated July 19, 2020

Eating well, especially a diet high in raw cruciferous vegetables, provides ongoing DNA repair – a great healthy longevity choice. In their raw state they provide the enzymes that repair the DNA. Boiling or heating will destroy the essential myrosinase. Myrosinase, an enzyme group, is released upon biting or chewing raw cruciferous vegetables – producing sulforaphane. Sulforaphane is the active compound that directly eliminates carcinogens from the body and provides a protein that inhibits tumor growth and repairs DNA.

You can find a full range of these life giving vegetables at your produce department. Look for broccolli, kale, cauliflower, cabbage and other less common cruciferous vegetables. These vegetables contain powerful DNA repair and anti-cancer agents and should be a part of all anti-cancer and longevity diets.
