pop

It’s a new year and that means people are thinking about weight loss. Unfortunately many people start consuming diet soda, drinks and foods; thinking they are making a good choice by eliminating sugar

Many diet soda’s and foods contain aspartame, also known as Nutrasweet and Equal. This artificial sweetener was introduced into the market in 1983 and used in many food products and diet drinks.  The rate of certain cancers (brain) and conditions (multiple sclerosis) increased drastically in 1984; many of these are thought to be associated to the increased consumption of artificial sweeteners.

Learn more by watching the documentary Sweet Misery. If you know anyone who is using artificial sweeteners please pass this blog post link on to them.

Stevia and agave syrup are considered safer all natural sweeteners by some sources.   Read the Globe and Mail’s review of artifical sweeteners by Carly Weeks and the article titled ‘Are stevia and agave syrup healthier sweeteners than sugar?‘ by Leslie Beck.

It is always important to get your information about product safety from unbiased sources. Remember that wholesalers and retailers have a vested interest in you purchasing the product.
